MI Artists

All-State Juried Exhibition

The “MI Artists All-State Juried Exhibit” is a highly competitive show featuring 66 pieces of artwork created by 56 artists, narrowed down from more than 200 pieces entered. The selection represents a wide array of media and techniques in artworks created by artists from across the state of Michigan, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramic arts, fiber arts, and sculpture. Styles range from pure abstraction to precise representation, from realism to surreal and fantastic, and from traditional to experimental in their use of materials. This exhibition takes viewers on a visual voyage through the diverse artistic expressions found in our state.

Artwork featured in the “MI Artists All-State Juried Exhibit” was selected by juror Julie White Pierce, gallery and program director at the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts in Frankfort, Michigan. Pierce earned a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Albion College, with concentrations in ceramics and painting. She earned a master’s degree in art history from Virginia Commonwealth University, with a concentration in non-Western art, and she has studied in Italy, Greece, Spain, Denmark, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Her appreciation of global arts and nontraditional media has resulted in a richly diverse array of artwork on display in this exhibition.
